Compliance specialist Pentagon Assurance has announced the completion of its latest CDM contract supporting Wärtsilä UK Ltd as principal contractor and principal designer on a high hazard CDM project in the South of England.
Wärtsilä is a global leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets and appointed Pentagon Assurance following a recommendation by a long term partner in machine logistics management.
In February 2022, Wärtsilä appointed Pentagon Assurance as principal contractor and principal designer on a high hazard CDM project in the South of England. Wartsila was keen to ensure the site closure would be conducted with particular emphasis on employee and contractor safety. Having previous experience in decommissioning projects, Pentagon were able to impart that knowledge successfully, and with the change of scope in the project become a valuable resource in supporting key activities.
Adrian Sumner, Project Manager for Wärtsilä said,: “The experience of Pentagon Assurance was invaluable in maintaining the sites 100% record of zero lost hours over the last few years, in what was a series of complex decommissioning and transfer activities achieved to schedule.”
Barry Cooper, Managing Director of Pentagon Assurance said: “The success of this contract came through our bespoke service, which is tailored to meet the needs of the client. We maintained a firm approach to safety throughout, while recognising the need for flexibility to be able to respond to the needs of the day, and short notice requirements due to the reduced lead time for the transfer and closure of the site.
The support of Pentagon Assurance ensured on-time completion of the works with the HSE record maintained up to the end of the sites operational and decommissioning activities.”
